A man was killed and three others injured after two mortar shells hit the western Negev kibbutz of Kfar Aza Friday evening. One mortar landed near a house and a second near a community hall in the kibbutz, causing damage to a building. A rescue crew summoned to the scene pronounced the man dead following attempts to resuscitate him. One person was moderately hurt and two were lightly injured by shrapnel. [more]

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is suspected of illicitly receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars from Long Island businessman Morris (Moshe) Talansky, according to the details of a probe being carried out against him, which only now can be publicly revealed in Israel. Channel 10 TV reported that Talansky was a middleman for illegal campaign contributions, and readily cooperated with Israeli interrogators.
