| West Bank Preventive Security Chief Jabril
Rajoub arrived unexpectedly in Cairo on Friday, amid reports that
he may be ousted from the Palestinian Authority in a power struggle
with Gaza Strip Security head Mohammed Dahlan. The London-based Al-Hayat
newspaper said Rajoub is traveling alone, and his trip indicated that
he may be leaving the PA. Egyptian officials reportedly gave Rajoub
little support, saying they would not interfere in internal Palestinian
politics. |

| Son of Ahmed Jibril killed in Beirut car bombing |
| The son of Ahmed Jibril, head of the Popular
Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP-GC), was
killed in a Beirut car bombing today. Jihad Jibril was head of the
PFLP-GC's military operations. Al-Jazeera reported that a senior PFLP-GC
commander was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the assassination.
PFLP-GC officials blamed Israel for the bombing. |

| Sharon sets conditions for Syrian participation

| Prime Minister Ariel Sharon told the Knesset's
Foreign Affairs and Security Committee that he was willing to allow
Syria to attend a regional peace conference, if it would first expel
11 terrorist organizations from their headquarters in Damascus. Sharon
also said Syria must withdraw its forces from Lebanon, stop the transfer
of weapons from Iran to the Hizbulla and work to disarm the Hizbullah
and end the occupation of Lebanon. |

| Suicide bomber kills only himself in blast
near Afula |
| Border Police forces identified a suspicious
looking man at a road junction near Afula. The man blew himself up
when officers approached and asked to see his identity card. Two Israelis
sustained light injuries from the blast. Security forces estimate
that the bomber was on his way to carry out an attack in Afula. |

| IDF operates in West Bank overnight |
| In response to the Netanya terrorist attack,
IDF troops conducted searches for terrorists in the Palestinian cities
of Ramallah and Tulkarm last night. IDF forces arrested three Palestinians
wanted for their involvement in terrorist activity in the villages
of Dahariya and Idna near Hebron and in the village of Beit Anan north
of Jerusalem. |
