Report: Palestinian and his Jewish wife drove suicide bomber to Rishon Letzion
A Palestinian man and his Jewish wife, who lived in Bat Yam, were arrested last week on suspicion of driving the suicide bomber to Rishon Letzion. In the bombing attack, two Israelis were killed. A second suicide bomber - a Palestinian woman - was in the car, but she changed her decision to blow up at the last minute. The Israeli woman said in her defense that she had not realized that the man in her car was planning to blow himself up, ynet reported.

The IDF arrested three armed Palestinians near the Gush Katif junction in the Gaza Strip this afternoon. Earlier, an explosive device was discovered near the settlement of Dugit.

An Israeli man was lightly injured this afternoon when a Palestinian threw stones at a bus near the Maccabim roadblock.

Palestinian woman trys to stab policeman in Bethlehem
A Palestinian woman attempted stabbing a Border Policeman near the Church of the Nativity this afternoon. The policeman was not injured and the woman was arrested.

Curfews lifted in Shuafat, Anata, but forces remain on alert in Jerusalem
The IDF lifted curfews in the Shuafat refugee camp and in the village of Anata, after failing to capture wanted men there. Security forces remain on high alert in northern Jerusalem, and large traffic jams are reported there.

Fire breaks out following Hizbullah attack, no injuries
Hizbullah forces fired mortar shells this morning along the northern border. As a result, a brush fire broke out in the community of Kfar Yuval. No injuries were reported.

Terror alert in northern Jerusalem continues
IDF forces imposed a curfew on the Shuafat refugee camp and the village of Anata near Jerusalem this morning. Security forces are conducting extensive searches in the area. Jerusalem remains on high alert for a possible terror attack for the third consecutive day. Police Chief Shlomo Aharonishky said that "hot" warnings specifically targeted the northern section of the city.

Shalom: no significant changes to economic plan expected
Despite reports that Shas is likely to return to the coalition next week and may attempt to amend the proposed emergency economic plan, Finance Minister Silvan Shalom told Israel Radio that no significant changes to the plan are expected.

Court rules: Pi Glilot site to remain closed
Tel Aviv's Magistrate Court today ruled that the Pi Glilot gas and petroleum depot would remain closed, at least until June 13. The site was shut after a bomb exploded on a fuel tanker last week, causing only minimal damage to the truck.

IDF arrests militants on "limited operation" in Hebron
IDF troops entered Hebron on a limited incursion early this morning. Troops conducted house-to-house searches and arrested four men wanted for terrorist involvement, including senior Islamic Jihad militant Mohammed Sider and a leading Hamas activist. Army sources indicated that the IDF has already begun to withdraw from the area.

Shas agrees to terms for return to government
Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's office and Shas party representatives reached an agreement yesterday on terms for the party's return to the coalition. Shas Knesset members have reportedly committed themselves to vote in approval of the government's emergency economic plan. The party will be allowed to negotiate a number of proposed changes in the plan in preliminary committee sessions. Political sources expect Shas to return to the government by next week.

IDF uses tear gas at Kalandiya checkpoint
Following high terror alerts, the Kalandiya checkpoint, south of Ramallah, which was scheduled to open at 6 am, has remained closed this morning. IDF forces reportedly used tear gas to disperse hundreds of people, mostly Jerusalem residents waiting at the checkpoint to enter Palestinian-controlled areas. Palestinian sources report that a child sustained light head injuries from a rubber bullet.

Kibbutz terror alert declared false alarm
A break in the security fence of Kibbutz Bachan resulted in a high alert there as Border Police forces conducted searches fearing a possible terrorist infiltration. After several hours, residents were allowed to leave their homes and the alert was called off. Police are still investigating the source of the break in the fence.

Arafat to meet with foreign representatives today
Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat is expected to conduct meetings with several diplomatic envoys, including Assistant Secretary of State for Near East Affairs William Burns, German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer, and European Union representative Javier Solana, to discuss internal Palestinian reforms.
