State: Jewish underground suspects also behind Sur Bahir bombing
State attorneys believe the suspects being held in connection with the attempted bombing in east Jerusalem were also behind the bombing at a school in Sur Bahir on March 5, in which 7 students and a teacher were lightly injured.

Large explosive device neutralized in Gaza Strip
Security forces discovered a 40kg explosive device near Dugit, in the northern Gaza Strip. The device was safely detonated in a controlled explosion.

Shin Bet: 40 terror attacks thwarted in last weeks
Shin Bet head Avi Dichter told the government today that security forces had thwarted 40 terror attacks in the last few weeks. Dichter argued that Israel should establish a permanent presence in Area A, an opinion rejected by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

Police questioning foreigners rounded up in Balata
Police are questioning eight foreign citizens, detained by the army yesterday in the Balata refugee camp. The eight are charged with entering a closed military zone, and will probably be deported from Israel.

Israeli child lightly injured during mortar attack in Gaza
Two mortar shells were fired into Gush Katif settlements in the Gaza Strip this morning. A ten year-old Israeli boy broke his arm while attempting to run for cover. He was taken to Soroka Hospital in Beer Sheva for treatment.

EU representative Solana pushing for international conference by July
Foreign Minister Shimon Peres met this morning with European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana. Solana reportedly called for an international peace conference to be held by the end of July, but rejected Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's terms for the renewal of the peace process, saying reforms take time.

Sharon: Israeli economy to stabilize after economic plan approved
Prime Minister Ariel Sharon told the government this morning that while there are problems with the Israeli economy, it is not in danger of 'collapsing.' Sharon said that he was confident that once the emergency economic plan went into effect, the economy would regain stability.

Palestinian women arrested for planning suicide bombings
Security forces operating in Nablus arrested four Palestinian women, graduates of An-Najah National University, suspected of planning suicide bombings and additional terrorist activity against Israel.

El Al ready to increase flights from India, to bring Israelis home
El Al has increased its office hours in Bombay, in order to facilitate the return of Israelis on the airline. The airline has two weekly flights from Bombay, and will increase the number if there is sufficient demand.

IDF continues operations in Nablus
IDF forces operating in Nablus over the weekend arrested some sixty Palestinians suspected for their involvement in terrorist activity. Soldiers discovered and neutralized two explosive devices in the city.

Gunfire, explosive device in Gaza, no injuries
A powerful explosive device was discovered and safely detonated by soldiers at an IDF post at Gush Katif junction this morning in the Gaza Strip. Palestinians fired at an IDF post in the Erez industrial area, and on the Netzarim road. No injuries were reported in any of the incidents.

Defense Minister Benjamin Ben-Eliezer is currently meeting with William Burns, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Near East Affairs, to discuss possible Israeli reactions to the renewed wave of Palestinian terror attacks. CIA Director George Tenet is due to arrive today.

Foreign Ministry calls on Israelis to leave India
In light of the increased tension between India and Pakistan, the Foreign Ministry issued a statement over the weekend advising Israeli citizens currently traveling or residing in India to leave the country immediately.

Arrests of Palestinians suspected of terror involvement continue
IDF forces arrested overnight nine Palestinians suspected of involvement of terrorist activity in the villages of Jamain, north of Ariel; Rasidiah, west of Nablus; and Madma.
