We get many e-mails at israelinsider. Most are praiseworthy and encouraging. Some are unworthy of response. On this, our holiday of freedom, as we rejoice in our release from bondage, we remember that there are those who still seek to enslave and kill us. As we remind ourselves of our bitter bondage, we cannot ignore contemporary exemplars of our ancient oppressors.

It's a strange world that a pig like you exposes his poison freely…. Finally, you could smell the air after generations living under our shoes.

But don't be happy filthy Jewish, sooner or later you will be butchered exactly like your coward ancestors … who preferred to be slaughtered like cheeps (sic) rather than fighting like men. I guess the Palestinian titans started that mission, and now you think hundred times before you decide to go out where death is waiting for you. Live in fear Jewish animal and die like a coward.

Your nightmare,
One of the Palestinian Titans

And a kosher Passover to you, too! We Jewish people have been around, and around here, thousands of years before the "Palestinian Titans" or for that matter Muhammad's Marauders and the Egyptian Kings long before them, set up their expansion franchise in the neighborhood. And yes, we are enjoying the smell of the fresh air for these fifty-four years since the founding of Israel, when our Zionist forefathers decided that Jews no longer would agree to live under Arab shoes or the boots of your European comrades.

But I did, O Titanic One, wish to address your so eloquently expressed suggestion that we would be "slaughtered like cheeps" rather than "fighting like men." I am tempted to say that is a rather "cheep" shot, but I have to admit that it has not been easy watching innocent Israeli men, women and children being shot down and blown up by your fellow Titans. The Palestinian terrorist's idea of a heroic struggle seems exploding himself next to sleeping babies in strollers. But there have been times when we felt that our innocents have been abandoned by the government elected to defend them.

I know the Palestinian Titans probably think that they are big heroes, fit for seventy-two virgins in paradise. I tend to think while they, like their 767-flying comrades, are cowards, their dispatchers and propagandists are still more cowardly, taking advantage of these desperate wretches while they stand in the shadows orchestrating the carnage. And the biggest coward of them all is your leader, who thinks he can keep playing his game of killing and talking, giving kill-orders and taking bribes at every opportunity, receiving the world's blessings as he keeps murdering Jews.

We Israelis may have grown a bit soft, dulled a bit by the hope, false as it turns out, that our Arab neighbors were prepared at last to live in peace with us, to share the land. We have all met intelligent, constructive, congenial Palestinians. We respect their desire for self-determination and for freedom. Unfortunately, we now see that they are vastly outnumbered and equally terrified by the fanatics and the killers.

There will always be a few who will be lulled by the lies of your polished spokespeople, or are so guilt ridden that they are cannot distinguish the imperfections and errors of a struggling democracy from the genocidal ambitions of our corrupt and cowardly neighbors. We wanted to believe you wanted peace, but most of us don't believe that any more. Some world leaders, and some of our own, too, still repeat these phony promises of peace as our people are left to bleed and be buried. By weakly accepting at face value the promises they know well to be false, they reward terrorists and entice future atrocities.

We know now that the issue is not, and never has been, "the occupation" of the West Bank and Gaza. The issue is that a Jewish State of any size occupies space anywhere in our historic homeland. The hatred of our very existence, as you, Mr. Titan, so clearly express, is ineradicable. Hundreds of millions of Moslems salivate for our destruction. Self-satisfied Europeans suckle from their Saudi oil sources and offer supplications to the "peace-loving" cult of Islam less their restive Moslem populations turns their insatiable appetite for murder and terror against them.

Some expect that Israelis will be led, as you suggest, like "cheeps to the slaughter." Israel is slated, on some agendas, to be a sacrificial victim offered to the Moslem masses so that they will have something to chew on and thus ignore their other potential victims. Some seek the capitulation of Israel and creation of Palestine to buy Arab support. Others seek to brand us as aggressor to salve their consciences about complicity in our dissolution.

That is the agenda of the New Jew Killers, ever more obvious. As Jewish families sit down to their Seder table, the Arab leaders will gather to refine their Passover Plot: whittle Israel down to its pre-1967 size, and then phase us out altogether. Flood us with "reunifying families," and watch us dissolve. Get us on the run, create Israeli refugees: first settlers, and then every other citizen of Jew-free Palestine. Again we can be the wanderer, enjoying the world's beneficent pity as we are trod once again underfoot.

The name Pesach is derived from the paschal, sacrificial lamb, and from the sparing, the passing over, of the Jewish people from the plagues and mass destruction. Yes, we have sacrificed, and we will sacrifice some more. But our sacrifices will not be in vain, and the slaughterers will not emerged unscathed. We will paint the blood of our innocent on the doorposts of our houses. The self-restraint we now so painfully exert, the rage we hold in barely suppressed reserve, these will enable us to summon the strength to do what we know must be done to prevent future deaths and protect ourselves, to restore safety within our borders and security to our streets. Then we will see who will fight and who will flee.

The People of Israel have been in far worse straits, and we yet have emerged victorious. As we were slaves, may we soon be free of our oppressors. May the Lord yet have mercy on His people, and vengeance on His enemies. May the Shepherd of the World stave off the ravening wolves and return peace at last to our Promised Land. Let the Lions of Judah shatter the swords of the slaughterers and return justice to Zion.

And so, my fellow animals, let us be laughing lions and not silent lambs: human beings that speak out with a sense of humor and defend ourselves courageously, listening to and empathizing with our adversaries without falling to the brutal level of the hate-filled beasts that seek to drag us down and consume us. Next to the darkness that surrounds us, our small struggling nation is indeed a beacon of light, shining for decency, freedom, and truth.

Chag pesach sameach to my fellow Jews. Happy Easter to our Christian friends. For our loyal readers of all faiths: Breathe freely the spring air and celebrate your own liberty, wherever you are. Say a prayer for us, and for your loved ones. Pray for peace, justice, and victory. We are in a fight for our lives. Join us in our struggle for what's right. This year in Jerusalem.
